Mercy Ships is an international development organisation that deploys hospital ships and volunteers to developing nations – improving the quality of life for people living with the diseases of poverty, disfigurement, and disability, through direct medical services, and building the capacities of healthcare systems to meet the needs of the future.
We chose to support Mercy Ships to help bring healing and hope to those in developing nations, so that they may live full thriving lives. Our support has helped to train healthcare with the necessary skills to strengthen their systems from within.
“So far in 2025 Mercy Ships has provided 3,600 surgical procedures and trained 550 healthcare professionals from eight African nations, totalling more than 126,000 hours of healthcare education and training. Mercy Ships Australia is also working in Indonesia, Tonga and Samoa installing a medicinal oxygen plant, providing donated medical equipment and supplies, and developing a program to educate farmers in the responsible use of chemical products as a preventative health measure. The annual gift from Bethel Funerals has been used 100% to support our African and Asian-Pacific projects, allowing us to help more people this year.” – Mercy Ships
“I never thought that one day, my lips would be repaired, I am crying because I am very joyful—I am not sad. Everything is going to be all right, and I can’t thank you enough for that.”
